I wish I could find a better source for this video, but a Facebook link is the best I can do. Basically, it reports that you are 7X more likely to be murdered, 15X more likely to be killed in an auto accident, and 42X more likely to be raped than to experience excessive police brutality. Other sources of crime statistics that I've checked seem to bear out the facts presented in this video.

The court of public perception still blames the police. No statistics will prove otherwise.

1SG (Join to see), agreed. The truth cannot make a dent in the propaganda that is repeated endlessly by those in the media and in power with an agenda.

TSgt Frank Shirley - I wait till the investigation is complete and find facts before I determine if it is justified or not. It's not about race to me. That doesn't mean it isn't about race to the media or others.

Unfortunately. I'm in the police academy now and a lot of discussions were about it. Honestly, that's unreal to convince people of it after such stories as BLM. I found a lot of interesting thoughts here during preparing coursework on this theme. I think if people research more - they would change their opinion. That's easy to watch the news and then try to think your own way.

I would also add the point that the media only focus on the extreme cases but not on all kind things police do for us

The media will only focus on the extreme cases. This in turns creates the image that the majority of police use brutality. Social media has taken it to a new level we are evolving into a nation that is hyper-polarized on many issues. The middle ground is disappearing.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - I never saw such a thing, ... ever. We didn't have a ticket quota either. This isn't first hand information, "my buddy" doesn't cut it. If you did it then I believe you, otherwise no.

I Just, By No More Than Chance, Had My Car Stolen While Picking Up A Printing Order For New Menu's, From Sir Pizza On South Cedar Street, Lansing, Michigan,
Somewhere Around The Winter Of 1992..
One Of The Cops Who Showed Up Was A Guy I'd Gone To School With At West Junior High..And I'd Not Even Heard About Nor Seen HIM Since The 7th Grade..
I Assume He's Retired By Now, But I Recall His Last Name Vividly, Because It's "FORD"..
And Michigan Was Automobile State Of America.,....And That's What Ford Told Me...
Whether Or Not ANYONE Believes It, Makes NO Difference....
I KNOW It Happened, And Nobody Else Needs To Believe It Anyway.!
BFD...Right? It Really Is To Me.

Any police brutality is unacceptable, regardless of who it is directed towards. However IMO there isn't necessarily an increase in its occurrence. What there has been is an increase in that ability to record and get the information out to the public almost instantly. Only a few years ago we only heard about extreme cases of police brutality through the media; who knows how many lesser instances never hit the papers or TV? Today just about everyone has a cell phone and quickly records and posts everything they see, especially if the police are involved, hoping their post will go viral. I think police forces are doing business as usual and procedures haven't taken into account the increased awareness of the public. Things like dash and body cameras may have forced some police to think a little more before acting but I think their basic training and protocols need to be updated to reflect the impact of social media and the proliferation of cell phones and other recording devices.

It has also made them somewhat less effective. The detectives on my squad did it right 99% of the time. If you scared them with a weapon however, all bets were off. We didn't have camera's in the 80's either.

"99% Of The Time"?
"How Did You Come Up With THAT Figure"?
"I Never Head Of It."
Sound Familiar?
