What are your thoughts on the Affordable Care Act?

I have insurance however out of pure curiosity, I went to the healthcare.gov website to see what it would cost me and my family if for some reason my insurance was ever dropped.

Currently paying approx $300 per month with no deductible, $25 office visits, etc to the cheapest ACA plan at $788 per month with a $6,000 deductible and 40% after the deductible is met.

I make a decent salary and I would go bankrupt in a couple months if I had to pay these cost.  Just curious where the "AFFORDABLE" part comes into play.

I have followed this plan since it came out in 2009.  It is performing to design, not failing as the media has reported.  The plan, as written, was to launch ACA, destabilize the insurance industry and then implement a single payer government controlled health care system.  Affordable in the name was just a marketing strategy.

My personal View.

One of the senators, a democrat from NC disagrees and went so far as to go on TV and make an ad against it.

There's the issue..Government Controlled.  Our gov't can not control what they have, why would they need any more control.  Just my two cents.

Agreed sir. My cost of insurance doubled and so did the deductible. IN on instance my wife had a procedure done, with insurance it would have been around $1,600.00 out of pocket (we had not met the deductible) I paid them $600.00 cash and got the procedure done... This is killing the middle class..

From all the information I have seen is that for most people if they got a plan their premiums would go up. The one thing that I have the most dislike for is, that it is mandatory for a person to have health insurance. I do work with a single mom who couldn't afford the company health care because it was expensive. Now she can't afford the ACA health care either because it is too expensive for her also. But yet it is mandatory. I just do not see how it is going to benefit those who are less fortunate if they can not even afford to buy it, since it is mandatory.

Thank god I live in Massachusetts, probably one of the only times I have ever said this.
They instituted mandatory healthcare a few years back and we did not notice an appreciable difference in health insurance cost.
