Branch is insisting on putting me on an AC/RC assignment at Ft. Knox in 4th CAV Bde, saying that it will be good for my career. I just hit 8 years TIS and have 8 months TIG, and I'm a 12N. Any information or experiences with AC/RC assignments would be great! Thank you.

Not always true Sir, but I know of 2 AC 12H that were located at a company in Tennessee. Ssg Collins and SFC Knauf don't remember their first names but they will give you a clear understanding from the AC side. Just remember to keep an open mind and the Reserves do not have a full time staff every day of the week. These guys are only there once a month and sometimes their businesses are more important than a conference call. Also remember a toxic attitude makes a toxic environment. Best wishes this will show your are very diversified.

I commanded a unit that while I don't know if it was recognized as AC/RC by branch, I had reservists come in once a month - which means we worked that weekend (the soldiers got 'comp time').
My boss was AGR, so she was pretty sensitive to RC soldiers - we had to call them and damn near invite them to drill, to show we cared - The Save the Soldier Program.
I did learn that RC does not act like AC, they have other things going on in their life, such as their actual career...the Army will not be their number 1 priority.
