While we are at it I think we should change the following team names:

Univ. of Texas - El Paso (Miners) offensive to mine workers
Univ. of Alaska - Fairbanks (Nanooks) offensive to Inuits
Tampa Bay (Buccaneers) offensive to pirates
Montreal (Canadians) offensive to Canadians
Chicago (Blackhawks) offensive to Blackhawks
Vancouver (Canucks) offensive to Canadinas
San Diego (Padres) offensive to priests
Cleveland (Indians) offensive to Native Americans
New York (Yankees) offensive to people who fought to preserve the Union during the Civil War
Too many more to list.

Oh, almost forgot how about the following Army inventory...
"Kiowa", "Blackhawk", "Iroquois", "Chinook", "Creek", "Lakota"

Lastly, Cracker Jacks, the caramel covered popcorn and peanut snack, is highly offensive to my Caucasian wife. Can we sue the company into changing their name?

I may get a thumbs down or two and I may be called intolerant bigot. I sure hope that any thumbs down or name calling will be followed by a post explaining your rationale.

The fact that the Copyright Office changes the law on a team to say the copyright on that team name and logo is no longer valid is another disgrace to allowing our laws to be dismantled without proper reasoning. The continued dismantling of our nation for a select few without the permission of the nation is creating chaos and anger when there is no need. These topics are really non-issues but are being made so by media and social media for the reason of election and potential racial divides which many have given there hearts and lives over the years to achieve the levels we have today. Only to see silly tactics try and break down these achievements. Pray for our land.

The whole thing is just a tactic of the great dividers. They are trying desperately to set us against each other because in their quest for more power, the more distracted people are by subjects like this, the less attention they pay to the destruction of our country. I am so sick of the political correctness movement. This trend where a small minority start telling people what they can say, see, read, speak, and think is at the core of our problems as a nation. I've even heard them attacking the Army's naming convention for Helicopters! What they fail to see is that you don't name sports teams, or helicopters for that matter, for things that are weak or things you don't respect. You don't have the Carolina kittens, you have Panthers! The Redskins aren't defiling native americans, they are holding them up as a shining example of everything that is great and fierce! In fact, I think we should adopt new names for out best helicopters just to spite them! We'll name them Kike, Spic, Cracker, Honkey, Diago, and Whop… Our troops can then get into their Spic attack helicopter and fire a spear chucker missile right up some jihadists terrorist's Azz! God bless America!

I am not suggesting anything. I am flatly stating that the 1st amendment protects all speech, derogatory or other, and that no government has the right or the power to tell people what they are and are not allowed to say! I may not agree with what you are saying, and I am free to express that opinion, but I swore an oath to uphold the constitution, and by god, I'll fight to the death to protect your right to speak your mind! The freedom to speak and be heard is one of those inalienable rights bestowed upon us by our creator that our government is prohibited from legislating against. Something to think about… who gets to determine what is derogatory? Derogatory implies intent. Speaking with the intent of degrading a person of group of people… When my black friend tells me I'm his "nigga" is that derogatory? If the 1st amendment doesn't protect offensive speech, then why have it? No one is going to try to stop people from saying things everyone agrees with! I've never called anyone any of those names, in fact I have been called several of them when there was intent to degrade, but I don't object to the words. They are just words. The real danger is letting the political class (something that was never supposed to exist in America where the people are supposed to govern themselves) ban or censor free speech, because in doing, they limit communication and the sharing of ideas. When it comes to use of derogatory terms in real life, my opinion is that if your argument is so weak that you have to resort to name calling, you have lost the debate, and your ideas are not worth my time.

Last time I checked, if I owned something, I could call it whatever I want. You also have your right to be offended by it. Then the day goes on.

I agree we fight and die for all of our rights, not just the ones we want to use and how we want to use them. Everyone likes freedom of speech till someone doesn't like what someone else is saying.

I would have to agree, freedom of speech and expression is no longer free. You either need a permit or someone will tell you "no, you can say or do that."
