For NCOES has anyone ever seen Commandants List soldiers still get 11b (Achieved Course Standards) on their 1059?

I went to SLC in 2012 and was put in the Commandants List, but my 1059 shows Achieved Course Standards. The only area it says that I was on the list is under the comments section;
11b Selected to the Commandant's list based on his academic achievements

Exceeding course standards is limited by regulation to 20% of class enrolment.
Commandant's list requirements very school to school... Commandant to commandant..
So if the School of Box folding commandant set the standard for the Commandant's list of:
All 1st time goes on written test
All 1st time goes on hands on Box folding test
No "demerit points"
and no EO complaints...to make the Commandant's list .. more than 20% may meet that standard... Thus YES you can make the Commandant's list and not meet the regulatory standard for "Exceeding course standards"
Bottom line yes it's possible and until you know the criteria set at the time you attended for making the commandant list as well as your placement in the overall enrolment number.. You can not answer your question of, was it appropriate to meet one criteria and not the other.
A call to the school house and request to know you ranking in the enrolment group as well as published standards for making commandant's list should answer your question.

I've made a request to the commandant CSM Ames for the current commandant's list criteria, while it may have changed since you attended it should help illustrate the point of how you can make the list, but not be marked as exceeding course standards.

I excelled at everything and ACS because my SGL heard me tell
Someone I wanted to quit smoking and I didn't. He said it showed a lack of discipline!

SSG Harvey,
In ANCOC Phase I, I exceeded standards in all categories, but only received a achieved course standards for overall course standards due to the Commandant's requirement that to get the top 20% your APFT must be 270 or higher. Since it was a requirement and my score was lower I received achieved course standards. Sometimes it is the Commandant of the school that sets certain requirements. This will effect your DA Form 1059.
