Below is a link to an interesting article in the economist on the latest happenings in Iraq.
Are we as a country making the right decision to play the passive aggressive game? What about our possible involvement with Iran on this situation?
I think this is blowing up into something much larger, implications of the Russian's involvement with ISIS and questions on Saudi's providing the funding make this seem like we are in deep.

Without a permanent US or other strong military presence in Iraq I fear there will always be militants vying to take control there.

Iraq has the capability to have their own strong military presence, but the lack of training and leadership with the guts to stay and fight will cause problems until they are rectified.
