Let's say I have a GED and a few credit hours for college. Can I join the military?

My son in his infinite wisdom decided not to graduate from HS nor attain a GED. Now he is having a revelation that handicapping himself was a poor decision.

I'm several years removed from my recruiting days, but I believe at that time a GED with 15 credits was the equivalent to a HS diploma. I just looked in AR 601-210 and if I understand the reg correctly that is still the case.I would definitely check with a current recruiter though as things change on pretty much a daily basis.

AR 601-210 para 2-7c(7) does say that a non-high school diploma grad (some sort of alternative credential) with at least 15 college semester hours can enlist if otherwise qualified. Talk to a recruiter face-to face, though.

What Maj Jeff Coulter said is correct, or it was when i left recruiting, however, each station can only enlist a few each year.

When I was a recruiter way back '95-'98, if you had a GED and 15 hours of college credit, then you were considered a "grad", so yes, not sure in today's Army though.....
