On Monday I'll be leaving for LDAC. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or insights or will be going themselves.

I also wanted to let you know I won't be around for the next month but look forward to returning to the RallyPoint community in July.

Thanks for everything!

Don't go with an attitude/mentality of getting an E. Just do the best that you can, learn from others, be open minded, make friends, and have fun. If you have a bad attitude, time there will be even worse for you. Always look for the bright side, even when you have to stand at parade rest in the rain to eat chow (which you sometimes get like 2 min to eat). Positive attitude will go a long way. Think leadership, problem solving, and decision making more than tactics. Tactics are good but leading, solving problems in a quick and effective manner, and making decisions are more important. Call cadences if no one else will. I was always thankful for the people that called cadences. Made the suck a little better. Push yourself past your limits on everything mentally and physically. Lastly, be a team player. That doesn't mean do everything for someone or give out all the answers. But motivate, guide, or help others. Teamwork will be quickly noticed by others. That's my 2 cents and hope it helps. Good luck.

Cadet McConville,
I went through Advanced Camp (old name for LDAC) a long time ago, but I have been talking to many of my peers who are Professors of Military Science and think the advice I received remains the same today:
-stay physically, mentally and emotionally fit
-make friends and support each other
-learn something every day, and use it!
-be someone that can be counted on to accomplish what you are given
-volunteer to help others, but not because you want to be seen doing it
-keep your mind open about the Army and what role you wish to play in in (branch, field, locations, assignments, etc)
-Have Fun!

Hope this helps

I too attended Advanced Camp in '90 at Fort Bragg. I agree with what LTC Purvis has to say. As long as you are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit, you will succeed. Don't let your guard down and know that once you succeed, you will be short of the ultimate goal of a commission. I know that when you complete your training, your motivation level will increase significantly. Good luck and best of success to you.
