Retirement overseas. I'm thinking Belize. Recommendations?

I'm thinking why leave the country that you served for and were willing to go to war for? No disrespect intended at all but I will never leave the US again. I spent most of my childhood OCONUS due to my father's service. I spent way too many years OCONUS and separated from my immediate and extended family due to my service. I will never leave the US soil again, ever. And, if it should be necessary, I will fight for our country here, on US soil.
If you do retire overseas, I wish you the best of luck.

SFC Wade W. Life is short but in the US the pace is fast. I'm originally from Guam and miss the island lifestyle of living in the day. That said, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, US VI, American Samoa hold no charms for me and my island is too far away from my granddaughter.
I'm sure you've experienced the truism that "home is where the heart is" ... My heart is not here in California anymore.

MSG (Join to see) - I understand. I live in Prescott Valley, AZ. I chose this place because it was a slow, small and relatively inexpensive place to live. Unfortunately I think everyone thought the same thing as they all moved here too. That being said I truly will never leave my country again. I wish you all the best.

A lot of folks go to the Philippines. It is inexpensive, American friendly, and IIRC even has VA support in country.

Funny you should mention that Sir. My Filipina Navy Brat wife, spent barely 2 weeks there once, absolutely REFUSES to go there. The cold that coursed through my body when as she glared at me when I mentioned the PI ... well, I no longer fear death.
