Do you have an example of how to fill out DA 31 with permissive TDY and regular chargeable leave?

Pay it forward as this one is simple.
1. Look at your report date. You must report on whatever date that is and cannot be late. Now backwards plan from that date. Build in 10 days permissive TDY, regular leave, and 10 business days to clear. Do you have enough time? Often times you do not and have to adjust your plans.
2. Once your backwards plan that sets your thru range.
3. In the remarks section of the DA 31 you simply put PTDY for house hunting ___ to ___. This DA 31 has to be signed by an O-5 or higher.
4. Enjoy your leave and ensure on the first day of PTDY you get the housing stamp. That stamp is critical for the PTDY to be valid and also in case you plan to use TLE.
As a caveat some people like to manipulate the system to their advantage. They evaluate which duty location has a higher BAH. The BAH changes the day you sign in at the new unit. It could be a big difference in some locations and if so that may impact when you want to sign in. However, if you sign in there is no guarantee that the new command will allow ptdy right away as they may make you in-process or have you get to work.

You just place a note at the bottom that says you will be taking PTDY from x to x dates.
You don't even need that. You do need the housing stamp from your losing or gaining installation authorizing you the permissive TDY.

Check this web page. You list the PTDY Dates in the Remarks part of the DA 31. You will only be charged for the dates not covered by the PTDY line item
