Don't know where you are now but you will certainly enjoy the Tampa Bay area. Was at USCENTCOM, not JCSE but worked and coordinated with them often. Coming to JCSE, make sure you are in excellent physical shape. Both when on active duty and after retiring, seeing JCSE jogging down Tampa's Bayshore Blvd. in full gear is a common sight. Makes sense when you consider their job of establishing communications anywhere in the world, no matter how remote. Good assignment with a great team from what I recall.

JCSE Bayshore run is 10 miles. The Bayshore sidewalk is the longest uninterrupted sidewalk in the US at 5 miles. So, your statement about JCSE soldiers being in shape is an understatement. As a result of all this high impact running, JCSE members should plan on filing their VA claim for lower joint and back joint disease before retiring.

My son SGT Aarron Hilgert is at JCSE. I was at MacDill for nine years. I PCS'd in 2009. Still cry every day I wake up and I'm not there.
