I have not been to the Iwo Jima Memorial in D.C., but I have been to Iwo Jima and walked up Mt. Suribachi and walked along the beach. It was a extraordinary and humbling experience especially as you walk along the beach and kick up ammunition.

Cpl (Join to see) I just read about the yearly tour. This sounds like a dream trip that would be a very humbling experience.

I was stationed at MCAS Iwakuni and our squadron had something worked out so the majority of us got to go.

Absolutely, Sgt Joe LaBranche! I have also attended the Evening Parade at 8th & I, which is one of the most spectacular ongoing military performances anywhere!

There's some controversy today on the news that Doc Bradley may not have been one of the guys who raised the second flag on Iwo. The Marines are checking into this issue

1stSgt (Join to see) - Doc Bradley's son says that he discovered some notes from his Dad that claims he was not among the flag raisers on Iwo for the second and larger flag. The Marines are studying old photos to find out if this is true or not???
