Purely as a suggestion that may or may not have occurred to you and or others on here, the national arcjivesmor NARA has through the records CTR or NPRC in St Louis a website called eVetRecs that you can quite easily look up using Google. There's a Javaappllet that opens up if you want your records, to incl your awards. The thing is the awards you'd have to request in the explanation segment of the Java applet, and I can tell you there isn't much room to type, you don't get much space on it. That being said you could always say please see attaxhed and write a letter thereafter. Once you're done with the Java applet and you're positive it's actually submitted online, don't take that on faith, you sometimes think you're done when you're actually not be sure, you get an acknowledgment page normally with an nprc request #. You MUST sign and date and then you MUST fax it back to the central nprc request fax line AND SAVE IT IF YOU EVER HAVE TO CALL THERE or you'll have to start all over again ,plus you MIGHT need to ocsnly refax it, though my wife and I have genly found nprc pretty good at actually getting the fax, they will NOT process you tillmthey get it signed and dated, and also fax any longer explanation letter simultaneously. Now, the reference cores, as nprc call them, in the new nprc facility, if they're doing it all the same way, may take, expectedly, perhaps a couple of months to get you processed, typically they send a written acknowledgment letter in a cpl of weeks to a month, we've found. Then, with luck, they'd sent my dad's, uncle's, and father in law's decorations for free, we had always had happen, though if one or more is missing from your request hence the longer explanation letter, you might have to either call them, or get a congressional aide to send a request for you, though as I'd said, nprc has genly been pretty good in finding stuff for us thus far, well over 95% accuracy and very fast helping with themocsnl 5% exception, which has been in fair truth quite rare honestly. Hope that helps, if you need any more info just say and I'll try to expln what I can further, many thanks.

I've been out 30 years so apparently each service member doesn't have access to their own Form 20 or 201 file( if they still exist )??

I understandmi think why you ask that , however please trust what id explained preciouslymaboit eVetRecs online. You can be sent both your personnel file, as well as your medical file, though you need to ask for ttjem separately. Whether the terms form 20 or a 201 file are applicable, I honestly don't know. O always heard 201 used to refer to an army personnel file, though i gather you're either Navy, most likely or, possibly, uscg, I can't tell candidly. However on eVetRecs all you need to do is give a serial or soc security number, your branch, whether you were active, guard, reserve, whatever, and when you got in and got out, and the MPRC staff should be able to find your material, and send you duplicates of your awards and or certificates, I should think, and hopefully I think at no charge, at least my wife and I were never charged. Just remember you absolutely must sign datex fax back, and keep for refrnc the printout from eVetRecs after fax it back ,you abs must fax it, honest, for NPRC to be able to start, hope it was helpful, if you need to know more, I'll obv try to help further many thanks .

People are very fallible and only human; in an ideal world, yeah, obviously, in an imperfect world, some awards might conceivably be left off, possibly I would think. Trust me, it is very possible to call over to the NPRC staff to ask for help if one has such questions, which, most definitely, I'd suggest you do, by all means. My wife and I have, as I'd tried to convey, always found the star there quite helpful and approachable , if you'd call them , honestly, I think you'd find them to the same by all means, though you won't get anywhere at all of you don't do an eVetRecs submission, have you started one at all yet? If not, please do trust me, that's very def what you nd to do first, positively, promise.

On MyServicePride.com, you can create your complete military awards and ribbon rack in precise order, then copy and save it as a .jpeg, and print it out in full color. Just don't expect anything more than mediocre service from this Mom-n-Pop Shop if you should decide to do actual business with them.
