WHEN you make chief, make sure that you participate in an AERR and HIPPER. These processes/seminars make a difference to the sailors. AERR for advancement and HIPPER for your formal courses. You can make a difference.

I agree, I just went to one and gave a good look at how things are done and that you can make a differance in a sailors career.

I'm not sure exactly how the points will work out now, but in theory I think it's a good idea. I took the HM3 test 4 times and the first 3 were very discouraging because even though I was scoring high, it was mathematically impossible for me to pick up regardless of my test score. I literally could have scored an 80 on the test and it wouldn't have mattered because I had a P out of my schools. Right now I have two E-3s right out of "A" School who will take the test for the first time in September and I can only hope that this new system will give them a chance to advance the first time if they blow the test out of the water.
