They look pretty nice, light and cool but my question would be how much ankle support do they give?

I agree on this. I have an issue with the initial issue boots as they don't give me the amount of ankle support I need. In my short time of duty so far, I've had three ankle injuries.

I went to physical therapy because I kept re-injuring my ankle. Most of it was a waste of time, but my therapist had me practice standing on a pillow balancing on one foot with my eyes closed. When I got to where I could do it for 20 seconds, I never rolled my again. Weird, but it works and it only took me a few days.

I have an identical pair. I have extremely flat feet and take those boots up and down the mountains of Korea at least once every three weeks. They are great for lacing up tight and fit like a glove. The support for your ankles are more than adequate. Though they look as loose as the old jungle boots they are far from. They are also quite nice on slippery ground, including ice. My one complaint is the tread wears out quickly and I haven't tried to get them resoled yet. So that might be an issue.

The rockys are a comfortable boot. I have two pairs myself. I can't wait for the new uniform to come out. I loved wearing the multi-cam, it was much better than ACUs. Life would be easier if the Army would actually speed up the timetable

They look like 3 episodes of China Beach ought to get them shined. Used to determine how long it took to get a good shine by how many tv shows I could watch while shining them. Don't see the lighter or cotton balls though. Must be your "After inspection" boots for motor stables!
