Do you think that the Department of Defense will consolidate service branch individual functions or continure to broaden roles?

Will one service branch take over space functions?
Will the AF stay the Cyber lead dispite Army and Navy growth?
Does the Army need a fixed wing fleet of its current size?

I think they'll continue to broaden the roles. In some cases it's not really the greatest idea, but I think that as long as the overall DOD mission statement is being met by all armed forces as a team effort, they probably won't change anything. Also, if they were to try and start individualizing functions, you'd see a push/pull battle across all of the branches to see who gets to do what and, most importantly, who gets funded to do what. It would turn in to a struggle for budget and funding, and they're definitely not ready for all of that!

SFC (Join to see) I think that you are right about funding I find that very sad that we cant just stay in our mission and work together as a DOD a each of us have our own missions.

As a history enthusiast listening to my father and his older brother both WW II veterans dad was Army his brother Navy they both stated that each branch has its own place and they need to be separate. When the Army Air Corps split from the Army into the Air Force the discussion then was,to have all aircraft for all branches strictly for the Air Force which thankfully was, ruled out .
