Have we become a nation of whiners and complainers? Can everyone possibly have their way within our free society?

The kindler and gentler nation was swallowed up by individuals who saw an economic opportunity and greed took over from there. While we were waddling in our fictitious successes, and sleeping in our sanctimonious pride, a real physical threat stung us and a financial threat was looming. Then the bottom fell out. Now every statement is taken the wrong way, and the once thick skin giant has had its wound re-burst down to the white meat, and every little statement rubs us the wrong way. Even the comedians are subjugated to regulate how and what they say, in fear of offending the sometime offensive acts of a myriad of groups of folk. I think being kindler and gentler, broke us, to a position further back in the wrong direction, much further back when we ever thought we be. (Not that it is completely bad) We now stand on the proverbial slippery slope, that leads to who knows where. It's getting to the point, where I wonder, what are we really fighting for, and what have gained for our efforts.

SSgt Cole,

I understand your concerns. But, we are still the kindest and gentlest place on earth.

We have some very greedy people, exploitive people, murders, robbers, and all the rest.

But, instead of chopping off a head or a hand we treat even our worst with humanity.

We also give generous resources and services to needy inside and outside our borders.

Warmest Regards, Sandy
