They need professional human resources folks do the program and backed up with career counsellors (or whatever you want to call it). This will provide real knowledge of the trends of what are hiring managers looking for and one on one counseling/coaches when It comes to career change/transition; not someone on an open computer lab who just happen to be the counselor on turn.

For the most part I felt like I was receiving transition training from people who have never actually transitioned themselves. I left ACAP with a resume that they helped me build and at the time I felt pretty good about it. After months of unsuccessfully looking for work a friend led me to a non-profit civilian transition program that totally reworked my resume and gave me a bunch of other career coaching. With their help I was able to land and interview and a job pretty quickly. It is obvious that the folks at ACAP (or whatever it is called now) are completely out of touch with the civilian job market.
