How should I handle being told that I am exempt from weapons qualification?

I am joint and was told that I'm exempt from the annual rifle qualification range. I've been here for just over 2 years and haven't been. Will this affect my chances of making promotion? Should I get to the range on my own regardless so that I can have a current score on the books?

c. AC table of distribution and allowances (TDA) units with personnel assigned individual weapons will qualify semi-annually. RC personnel assigned individual weapons will qualify annually. Consult the appropriate chapter to determine authorized resources for weapons training. Personnel in TDA units who are not assigned an individual weapon are exempt from weapons qualification in accordance with AR 350–1.

These comments are right on target. Just like in recruiting duty. Your previous wrapping qual is good for the duration of your TDA assignment.

No i wouldnt worry about weapons qual , i just seen people at ALU (Instructors) at NCO Academy at FT Lee and they dont have to shoot and it does not count against them.

SFC (Join to see) My unit does not have assigned weapons. You can get a waiver, which means for promotion they will use your last qualification (2 years ago in this case). Or you can find a unit nearby that does have weapons and is willing to sponsor you for range qualification.

Yeah, if I have to then I can go jump on the range with 10th group. But pretty sure I'm exempt from range qual here.
