What do you do to control anxiety while going through PEB process?

I am waiting for my fit/unfit letter to come back and I cannot stop worrying about all the different scenarios, for instance if I am going to be medically retired or separated, what will my rating be, and also is my wife going to be recalled to active duty so we can stay in italy. These are just a few of the many issues I am trying to deal with. I am trying anything I can think of, including seeing behavioral health and I still can't shake it. Anyone with previous experience with this mind sharing how they got through the process?

Anxiety is a legitimate mental illness, especially if you are experiencing Generalized Anxiety Disorder which has literally hundreds of different symptoms. I personally have experienced panic attacks, difficulty breathing, insomnia, depression, digestive issues, weight gain/loss, heart palpations...the list goes on. Anxiety isn't something we can control, and isn't a sign of weakness. I urge you to seek counseling, or just find someone to talk to and work through your feelings. Once you learn how to recognize that your symptoms are brought on by the anxiety, and you sort out what's causing it, things will get better.

Thank you for the response. I am seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist and am practicing the tools and methods they suggest as well as take med and most days it doesn't seem to matter what I do, my anxiety starts working overtime. it is nice to hear encouragement though, I appreciate it.

Dude I feel you. Its an ongoing battle. But I promise things get better. Even if the symptoms never go away, you learn to manage and can lead a normal life again. Good luck!

HM1, I can verify 4 generations of anxiety/panic disorder in my family tree. It is not easy, and although medicine is available, I found Efexor to be mind numbing and zombifying for ME, but I did get rid of caffeine unless I HAVE to. I also stand on the promises of my Bible, so perhaps your faith can help hold you up, in some way. Trust me, you are in EXCEEDINGLY good company!

For me I looked at it as, it's out of my hands, worrying about it doesn't help and since I have no control over what happens I will just prepare different paths to take depending upon the outcome. Always have an out that way if things don't go your way it isn't that big of an issue. Fire off resume's to various jobs explaining that you might be leaving the service, don't give them firm data, just basic do I qualify, are you hiring during that time period, etc.

That's good info. Thank you. My wife and I are war gaming the different scenarios and trying best to prepare for each. That is part of the anxiety, trying to prepare for each situation. Thank you for your encouragement and advice
