A 'Pizza Party' is when you have an individual or group that required some 'incentive training' e.g. not doing the correct task and are 'incentivized' to correct the behavior by means of P.T. to the point of relieving their stomachs of all it's contents on the deck, making it look like a pizza with all the toppings. Gunny out.

In the context it was used, that just doesn't seem like the right answer but it t is what it is. Seems more like a reward or bribe to do the duty required of the soldier. Whine enough and get pizza? Really? 'New' Army indeed...

SSG Daniel Lynn - when I was in OCS I would tell everyone that we were having a pizza tomorrow. Of course everyday there was a new sucker. There wasn't one. But I never heard it being used any other way.

A motivational tool used by Basic and AIT "leaders" that are struggling at leading and motivation so they resort to bribing Soldiers with a "Pizza Party" to do what is required of them.
I heard of such things when I was a Drill Sergeant at Jackson, but not in my unit.

No doubt many things changed in the interm.
Thanks for confirming such a thing did take place and as assumed it was as ineffective as the leader using the tool.

I was in basic at sand hill in 09. I heard of the pizza party right after we turned blue. We each got 2 pieces of pizza because our "pass" got canceled. The next morning it was "calories in, calories out bitches" 5 mile run. After not eating shitty food for that time period 2 slices of pizza were like a grease grenade in your guts! Worst food experience of my life. I look back and it was hilarious. Why we thought it was okay to partake was beyond me.

I went through BCT at Ft. Benning in '06. We did get pizza once while I was there. I remember it being on a sunday during blue phase, but I'm not sure it was planned. Our Senior Drill Sergeant didn't even find out about it until the last few days of IET.
