Fort sill is a chill post, lawton is a dangerous place though. Stay away from the off limits places and youll be good.

there are definitely some dangerous places in Lawton. I delivered pizza while I was stationed there, and I had a gun to my head more than once.

Ft Sill I wouldn't recommend especially if you're trying to make your next rank. I was stationed here for over six years, there's nowhere to go and nothing to do and if you have kids you're really at a lost then. The winters normally not as bad as some places but can get pretty icey, the summers are very hot, training is very crappie here too! So you're better off going to somewhere like ft Eustis Va.

Was stationed there back in 80-82. Lawton, OK is a nice small city. Lots to do there, at least when I was there. The post is spread out alot but makes for not being crowded by other units.

I was there in 80-82 also, in fact I retired there. Since moved to Siuth Carolina. I liked Fort Sill a lot but not so much for Lawton. Very hot and unpredictable weather. Truly sits out in the middle of nowhere. The bright side, I met my wife of 50 years there. That's a blessing.

I was there in 2000 for basic. Perfect for road marches, not a hill in sight! Lol

Not like Fort Knox. I remember basic training there in 1962. We had several hills for roadmarches, they were, Heart Break, Misery an Agony. All pretty bad with equipment in your back.
