So what does everyone think of the proposed Marine Dress Blue Cover Change?

I personally think that with all the negative attention it has received in the last day nothing will likely change. The costs in this period of downsizing will likely force reconsideration (the cost to adopt the smaller cover would be 8 million versus issuing the male style cover would be 285 thousand). I just don't think it makes much sense to make a change like this when they are trying to reduce the number of Marines serving when there are other areas that could use more attention that would actually affect Marine mission readiness, and possibly save the careers of great Marines.

You don't mess with the best looking uniform in the world! The cost is a needless expenditure of money that could be better utilized by the military elsewhere. The idea totally sucks!

I'm not a marine but IMHO I think they look horrible, plus, why? We don't have money to throw at such a pointless project.

Yes but there are policy makers who like to change to justify their own existence. Sad but true.

The reason they were proposing changes is that the manufacturer of the Female cover went out of business, so they wanted to go with a more uniform appearance for both genders so they thought of changing the male cover, or changing to an unhappy median.
