So economicly I have been hammered since being medically separated from the Army back in 2010. My family and I have drained our savings since settling in Washington state, and employment prospects have been few and far between. Most of the time I got told I was over qualified. (What the hell does that mean anyhow) well a couple of weeks ago I was able to secure a Job, but that Job is in Florida and I am in Washington state. I won't be able to go there and keep my family here because of costs. I have found a house already but now I am stuck trying to figure out how to pay for the move. I will be holding a moving sale to sell off as much of my crap as I can, but I know it won't be enough. I hate the idea of asking for help but find myself in a position that it's my only option. I desperately want to get back to work, and honestly don't care if I have to sleep in my truck to do it but I can't do that to my wife and kids. My wife suggested I do a go fund me, but to me that feels like begging and not something I feel is right.

I get the over qualified thing a lot. Try having three advanced degrees and a BA in a market that requires a high school diploma!

Yea I got a call from a head hunter company looking for a transportation manager for a large corporation, I was so excited I took the first appointment, polished my resume up as well as my cover letter, took it to a friend of mine who works fo an HR company got the thumbs up from him, threw on my best suit. Only to be told my military experience wasn't good enough, and that I was over qualified for the position. I remember thinking to myself really? How is it my military expirance wasn't good enough and still be over qualified to fill a position that I did in the army?

But after looking for employment for six years I finally found someone willing to hire me, so no matter I have to make this work. I understand the issues when it comes to Degrees and many college graduates have similar problems, they end up working in fields for less pay that don't even need degrees in.

Ask you new employer if they will help or perhaps give you advance pay.

I did but it's a small company and he doesn't have the ability to do it. But he did say he will hold the job for me. Which I might add is really good for me. The cost I am estimating will be around $10,000.00, for me to get my family from here in Washington state to Tampa Florida. Hopefully less considering the price for fuel has dropped, also less with the discounts a couple of the moving company's offer. U-haul offers a veterans discount and then wounded warriors offers a fuel voucher to assist. Or rather they partner with an organization that does.

I completely forgot about this post! Turns out I made it to Florida, things are great and I don’t need help. However posting resources for those who might, wold probably go a long way.
