BASIC ENLISTED SERVICE DATE, It's the day you first entered the military, BPED is an adjustable date it stands for Basic Pay Entry Date, when you first enlist they are both the same, if you have a break in service, get out of the active, and all reserve components, and later you rejoin your BESD remains the same but your BPED will be adjusted to reflect total time in service for pay. If you stay out for three years one month and 29 days your BPED is pushed back to correct your time in service and time in grade.

BESD and "PEBD" - Pay Entry Base Date (not BPED). Great info though! Thanks for the clarification.
