Do any units still hold this formation at 1300 or is this something like a ghost from the past? This used to happen on a regular basis.
Some of you can remember doing this after lunch break just to have the 1SG tell you to go to work in the motor pool.

My first 4 years in the Army we did three formations a day. Mandatory, that was the good old days, these soldiers now a days probably would throw a little hissy fit if they had to do that.

We did the 1300 ritual in the 80s simply for the matter of accountability. Platoon Sergeants, Squad Leaders, and Section Heads should have already known what the tasks were for the day. Once everyone is accounted for, it is time to Charlie Mike.
