Don't know if you're in it for the long haul or not but I'd recommend that you reenlist for something that will make you competitive for promotion. Running to a fluff job will stunt your growth in the military. Look to be a DS, AIT PLT SGT, ABN, OC, or Recruiter. Best promotion potential runs in that order in most cases.

The plan was to drop my recruiter packet in June, but something came up and I have to put that on halt, so just trying to see what other good jobs are out there until I'm able to go recruiting.

Know that recruiting has not held the weight that it once did. The more impactful jobs in our MOS are DS, AIT PLT SGT, Instructor and ABN duties. Not to turn you away from recruiting because my life lives and hates the duty out there but it doesn't hold the same weight at the others. If you shoot me an email on global I will send you the AAR comments and some other documents from our RCSM about the last promotion board and the future of the corps.

SOLSE is an amazing unit! However, it uses an interview and selection process. You could always re-enlist after being selected if you choose to apply.

I would tell you to look at reclassing to a MOS that has potential for promotion. The 92 CMF is a tough place to advance, especially if you are looking at retiring. You are a SSG so you have retirement locked in but, I am sure you don't want to retire as a SSG.

The special duty assignments are all fine and dandy and they will help you reach SFC but there are only so many 92Z positions in the Army these days. You say you are interested in recruiting? Have you ever thought about pursuing a retention job? The 79S MOS is a great MOS for advancement.

SGM no I haven't thought about 79 series, I figured I would take me chances as a Yankee, at least making MSG
