What's your message to military leadership
OK, you are at the Pentagon and you are stuck in an elevator for 1 minute with GEN Dempsey (CJCS) and his Senior Enlisted Advisor, Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Battaglia. What's your message for either or both of them?

Hey enough of the social engineering.   This is a war machine,  not a touchy-feely social club.

I am a Mercenary Son of a Bugger and Reagan bought my vote. Got us the biggest pay raise ever as he promised he would. Other than that. As one of his Spooks I quickly learned that he said one thing and did the Polar Opposite. Unfortunately now we have a Generation of Right Wing Politicians that actually believed the BS and are trying to Recreate a Lie.

STOP WITH THE POLITICALLY CORRECT HORSE SHIT! The job of the military is to kill people and blow shit up. The military has always been used as a control subject for social issues. The country has adjusted on it's own, let's get back to doing our job, and stop being a police force!!<br>

SSG Gaudard-yes I agree with TSgt Herman. What was one of the very first things you learned to do when joining the military? Hand to hand combat, how to utilize grenades, small unit tactics, rifle marksmanship, etc. Sounds to me like killing people and blowing things up. I agree that there needs to be a certain degree of professionalism, but I also think that we take things WAY too seriously. And when people do get seriously affected or gets slammed by our comments or actions, then the perpetrator needs to be dealt with accordingly. However, I don t think people need to be babied or sissified-cause the enemy doesn t give two hoots what training you have or what the Army EO policy is...you wear green and bleed red-therefore you are a target.

General Patton summed it up best-with two different quotes-
1. When I want my men to remember something important, to really make it stick, I give it to them double dirty. It may not sound nice to some bunch of little old ladies at an afternoon tea party, but it helps my soldiers to remember. You can't run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn't fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag. ... As for the types of comments I make, sometimes I just, By God, get carried away with my own eloquence.

2. I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for his country.

Sounds familiar across any branch, the Infantry mission is to close with and destroy the enemy. In my experience, we do that with bullets, mortars, bombs, tank rounds, rockets, and missiles...not a very cuddly business we're in.
