Different Presidents, A Different Corps
http://therealrevo.com/blog/ Update, 3/12/09 This video has received a lot of attention. As of right now, it is showing well over a half a million hits since...
Ryan Douglas did not mince words — he says 14 years ago, he had a president. In a viral Facebook post, the former soldier shared a few photos of former President George W. Bush visiting with injured veterans and bringing a turkey meal to active duty soldiers. And although he made mistakes, Douglas said, he owned up to those errors. “[Fourteen] years ago, I had a President who was proud to be an American and who shared that pride with the people,” the veteran wrote. “Today, I have an eloquent but petulant schoolchild pretending to be a leader. On the worst day in American history since Pearl Harbor, I had a President who told the world that America will not bow down. Today, I have a charlatan snake oil salesman who bows to my enemies.” “But 14 years ago, I had a President,” he continued.

The older I get, the less easily I'm convinced anyone at "the top" is really as "good" or "bad" as we think they are...
...but I do recall how a young LTJG in the Indian Ocean felt when word came that our Commander in Chief was coming out to the Fleet; not on Marine One in a suit...but in the cockpit of an S3-B wearing a flight suit.
Hell yes...he was "My President" that day.

Yes, I remember that event as well and I thought, 'He's one of us!' Time does tend to soften our views into a more benevolent haze...but no one would doubt that Dubya loved the troops and we loved him. Thanks for that memory!
