I saw a post by a friend of mine on social media, who basically stated that, "...now (as of December?), females are no longer allowed to perform in certain combat-related jobs, like infantry, tank, combat aviation."

If true, this would be news to me.

Anyone in the community care to share some insight?

Ummmm so, women have previously not been allowed to perform in these positions, so 'no longer allowed' would be a completely inaccurate statement since they were never 'allowed' to in the first place. Secondly, the Secretary of Defense just announced that these positions will be open to women starting in January. So either the post you read on social media was completely inaccurate, or you read it wrong and it likely stated that females are NOW allowed to perform in combat-related jobs.

SGT Kristin Wiley stated it exactly correct. the SECDEF has just stated that all career fields are open, regardless of gender.

I ASSUME that that doesn't mean as of right now, and there will be some (relatively brief) timeline and implementation guidance forthcoming in the near future. I expect that it will be fully done within the next 3-6 months.
