Best duty station all around?

Guess I was at right place at the right time. But you have to admit how awesome antelope and eagle lake and the nature was around there.

The "general rule" is just that young padawon. I have also heard the general rule as the best duty station was "your last duty station." Because sometimes the next duty station you go to, thinking it would be better, turns out to be worse and you realize how good you had it at your previous station. Anyhow, it's not the duty station that makes it worthwhile, it's the unit. Good leadership and good units can make even the crappiest of duty locations worthwhile. Always remember that young padawon. In my experiences alone, I can tell you that South Korea was an amazing adventure. As a single soldier (at the time) as well as my first duty station. I opted for 2 years there. New language, new culture, new friends, the army is like high school over and over and over again. It was very nervous initially but it was a challenge that I took head on. Hawaii is a very beautiful location, almost surreal. But it can get boring after a while because everything just becomes the same thing, especially because you're stuck on an island. Honestly the best thing you can do at this point is just do a little bit of research on where your MOS can take you duty station wise and see what that location has to offer. And as a former "cable dawg" myself, you shouldn't have a hard time finding opportunities. Your job is needed just about everywhere.

SSG Marcos' general rule is "solid". Ft. Polk - hated it as my AIT Infantry post and, wasn't much better 5 years later teaching on a live fire range but, after the fact, memories are good, training was realistic and useful and now comes in as my favorite!

Bamberg was great, 1963-1965, 2nd ACR

I was at Wurzburg Barracks from 82-85. The mark rate was at a high. Got to travel and see the countryside.

I wasn't there anywhere near as long ago as some of yall, in fact I was there when we closed up shop and moved everything to Baumholder... Bamberg was heaven compared to "the rock".

Hey Top, Bamberg is closed down, I was one of the last 16th Soldiers to leave and transition to Baumholder. Great city and memories
