Can I reclass to 68A without the algebra requirement?

I'm currently a 91D looking to reclass out. It took a long time to figure out what I wanted to shoot for. I wanted something that might challenge me a little more, something that was more interesting to me, and more importantly something with promotion points that aren't quite as high. With those factors in mind I targeted 68A, Biomedical Equipment Specialist. After talking to BN retention, she said that it was not an option as I had a D in algebra in high school. I also had an A, but she said it had to be a C or better for the year and not an average. I have not taken math in college yet either. Is there any ways around this, waivers, etc? Thank you for any and all help.

Go to base education, take the CLEP: College Algebra (it's free and takes 2 hours, and will give you 3 LL credits). See if you pass it. A "pass" = C, or proof of proficiency at the college level. If you fail it, it doesn't matter.

I am surprised this is a real requirement. I am a 35T and we do pretty much have the same skills but we use them for the MI Corps. I can understand the need to be knowledgeable in math, because you will be using a ton when learning electronics theory. I suggest you take a college math class to make this easier on you. Still surprised it is a legit client.

Appreciate the quick response SGM. I've never been to bad at math so I did take that option into consideration, but I'm coming up on 5 years in so I'm afraid by the time I get in an open class and complete the term I won't have the time to reclass into this MOS without RCP becoming an issue.

If there is no waiver, consider an on-line college algebra class that has open enrollment and is accredited. This is normally self-paced which allows the opportunity to complete the course ASAP if that is a necessity.
An example: http://is.byu.edu/site/courses/description.cfm?title=MATH-110-M001#
Another example: http://und.edu/academics/extended-learning/online-distance/courses/math103/
Good luck!!
