Halloween is over. Now it seems like the calendar speeds up through the end of the year.

As a military servicemember, can you offer some sustains and some improves - an AAR, about living through the holidays? Can you offer tips to help military families make it through this period?

If it wasn't for my kids, I probably wouldn't celebrate the holidays at all. Too many bad things have happened to me during the season to look at them favorably; all of the merriment actually has the opposite effect on me. I wish that wasn't true, because I used to enjoy the season very much. Now it seems like I sit at the table and it is hard to not see who isn't there anymore.

Sorry to be such a downer.
I grit my teeth and get through it, and make it as fun as I can for the kids.

We mourn the loved ones that we have lost, but remember to live for them too. We have family and friends around us that are very precious and we won't get the time back so enjoy those that are here as well.
