Does anyone know where I can find a lender to do a small, short term personal loan?

I'm kind of in a bind, I have a big expense coming up and the money I was counting on won't actually be available until after Jan 1. That is too late. I'm still working on getting my credit back on track since my divorce and as such I've been turned down by traditional banks. Does anyone know of an individual or organization that can help out an expense below $5,000? It can be repaid relatively quickly in the new year.

Here are some resources:
VA has an office: http://www.va.gov/osdbu/entrepreneur/index.asp
SBA: Here is a great article: https://www.sba.gov/blogs/business-loan-opportunities-military-veterans-2014
Here is another article that list 7 resources for small business loans: https://www.fundera.com/blog/2015/01/27/small-business-loans-for-veterans/
In some cases your local bank might be able to give the loan (personal or business).
Hope this helps.

Try lendingtree.com. Consider the interest rates, but avoid loans with large origination fees.
