I was pushing 10-years in when that occurred.
I remember I was driving to work, we were going to spend the day cleaning our M2s and MK19s from a range exercise the previous week. The announcement came over the radio but thought it was a skit or joke as I was listening to Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw and they and they are/were known for there antics. But it wasn't a joke, we returned all the weapons to the armory and went to the various barrack's rec rooms and watched the news in disbelief for the rest of the day. Like it was yesterday.

MSgt Daniel Attilio, It does feel like it happened yesterday; doesn't it? I cannot remember exactly how I felt; but I remember that it happened while I was sleeping. The whole idea (of it happening.) felt very foreign to me. I believe that I was a veteran then.

No I was already in serving my country. Though, 9/11 did play into me staying in as I was just finishing up a MED board right after 9/11. I was about 80% sure I was going to request to stay in, but 9/11 made it 100%.
