Fortunately (or unfortunately) the subjects of her stories are probably no longer here to present their side in rebuttal. Hope she never met my dad (he was USA Corps of Engineers and would have been about her age) or that he would be mentioned in any of her stories. :-)

When I originally saw the news on TV they said she was also a two time Bronze Star Medal recipient. Pretty amazing woman in my opinion.

Had the honor of greeting a Honor Flight that was entirely WAVES veterans.... and you thought only men were cat callers! I always enjoy meeting the women veterans of WWII, especially if I can pull escort duty with them. They maybe act embarrassed but they love the attention and being treated like a queen. I always go out of my way to talk to them and show them my appreciation.

My mother and an aunt were WAVES during WWII. None of their brothers were qualified for service so my grandfather asked them what they were going to do for the war effort.

I try to bring the more positive to the table MSG. I get tired of all the negative crap, as we hear so much of it (even on here).

Amen 1SG (Join to see) Soon all those great stories will be gone and all we will have left are what we read about.
