I updated my APFT on 151005 giving me 651 points for promotion. On 151009, the pac clerk, a PFC, changed my APFT giving me 588 points for promotion. At no fault of mine, I was not on the by name list for Nov for promotion to SSG. AR 600-8-19 does clearly state that there's nothing I can do, but I refuse to believe that. Is there anyone with 42A experience that could guide me in the right direction to get promoted? I have researched 600-8-19 and milper 11-233 and understand. There has to be a loophole somewhere.

If you have a DA200 (or any physical proof) that you turned in your APFT and it was fixed, you can file for an exception to policy (ETP) and have your score retroactively modified, thus earning your promotion to SSG on the date that you were supposed to pin.
Understand, the ETP will take time, when I had to do mine, it took 4 months.
You can also have your 1SG get with your S1 NCOIC to pull the audit record on your SIDPERS data and find out why your APFT was changed, have it changed back and *hopefully* you will make cutoff for Dec, then you can just wait on the ETP to take effect to backdate your promotion to the DOR you were supposed to have.

Talk to you Sgt Maj. He should have some guidance.

Does the Army have Request Mast? If so, that should be a reason to RR to the IG.

And do not beat the PFC. Nothing good will come from that.

SGT (Join to see) Might I recommend hitting up @CSM Michael J. Uhlig? He is on here pretty much daily and can give you a disinterested third party expert opinion.

You can definitely ask for an exception to policy, but that requires your shop to own the mistake and say they screwed up. Something similar happened to me with my promotion to Sergeant. The Brigade S1 said I screwed up when it was their error. I would have made points. They blamed me for their mistake, and when it required the approval of the brigade commander, it was denied...because people often don't want to admit they were messed up

I completely agree SFC Boyd this kind of thing happens often when S1 shops get lazy put most of the work on the E3/E4 instead of the NCOIC doing it or double checking especially when it comes to promotions and then all they do is deny, deny, deny even presented with the evidence!
