Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said President Obama distrusted the military, and “this was particularly true in Afghanistan” in an interview that was taped earlier in the week and broadcast on Thursday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel.

Gates after discussing his doubts that President Obama believed in the mission in Afghanistan, and micromanaging of the military by the Obama administration was asked about the president’s suspicion of the military. He stated, “I think this was particularly true in Afghanistan, and I think there were people in the White House, and I don’t want to name any names, who were constantly goading him and saying the military is trying to box you in. the military is trying to trap you. the military is trying to bully you. The military is trying to make you do something you don’t want to do.”

It's easy to distrust what you don't know. However, there are a lot of leaders who don't know military strategy and tactics.

That is a difficult question SGT (Join to see). I expect that there is some truth behind Secretary Robert Gates claim that President Obama distrusts the military. President Obama's administration has certainly shaken up the military leadership with some of the decisions it has made in the past few years.
Much of the military is opposed to some of his decisions while many support those same decisions.

Dr. Gates is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE Americans! He implied this a couple years ago in his autobiography DUTY. I don’t think this is new news. I think it is sad but true. I wonder if this apprehensive has anything to do with GEN (ret) McCrystal et al precedent. Rehashing this on Brietbart sounds more like the circular reporting we had in the previous regime.
