My 3 or so questions are:
1. Am I being challenged/kept busy, or is it a lot of "hurry up and wait?"
2. Is there room for growth?
3. Am I making a difference for the company?
I also like to ask myself what LTC Stephen F. does, namely:
1. Can I get a positive reference from the supervisor at the job I'm leaving?
2. Is my 401K transferable?

These are three questions I would recommend SSgt Alex Robinson
1. What are my exit benefits?
2. Will you provide a positive reference if asked by prospective employers?
3. Is my retirement account/pension transferable. Can I cash it out? [requires understanding of tax laws and how long you have to reinvest without penalty and what the penalty is if you delay past that point]

SSgt Alex Robinson - This was a great article. I haven't worked very long at the job I am at and am still in the learning stages. I'm starting to feel that it is not a good fit for me. I believe it could in time but believe there are better opportunities - but I'm unsure given a desire to get the pay I'm getting in the current role. I feel I have the capabilities but have not yet developed the instincts that make me excel at this job. It has been a huge change but I am coping well. Thanks for posting this.
