I was listening to Mike & Mike this morning and heard them talking about the best and worst jobs I was surprised to hear that enlisted Military was one of the worst! It ranks 198 out of 200... I know it's not the top job out there but 198, really! Where do you think we should be rated? Why do you think it is rated so low?

According to the list, if you are an enlisted Soldier assigned to a public affairs unit where you work in newspaper and broadcast production, you are in three of the bottom five jobs.
It must be a living hell to work for AFN...

Sir, working for AFN is by far the best position for PAOs.
I've worked as brigade PAO and now in a public affairs detachment. I LOVE my job but there's a reason I'm still single. No time for a life outside of your job lol.

Sir,
Most PA Enlisted get out in their first term because they get on the job experience, also the creative limitations that the military imposes on the Journalist.

What creative limitations? We are authorized to tilt the camera slightly and to write "use" or "utilize" interchangeably. What else could we ask for? ;)

I disagree. The difference between a great job and a terrible job is largely opinion. The military is often a stressful environment to work in but so are many other places. There are bad jobs within the military but there are plenty of great ones, too, so to say that being enlisted in the military is a bad job ignores much of that which makes it a great career choice. No, the pay isn't the highest but troops can make a comfortable living if they are smart about it.

Yea, lumping all enlisted, all branches into one 'job' is so accurate. I'm surprised he didn't include the Officers as well, probably skew the salary numbers so it would be out of the top ten worst.

A academic endovor that is flawed. Too much focus on statistics and not real findings. If they truly did their research they would find just about every civilian job has a military enlisted/officer equivalent (save for combat MOS/AFSC). If they dug deep enough they would have found being an enlisted member of the armed services one of the top jobs when they consider structure, pay, benifits, retirement, job satisfaction, training and education.
