Car washes, popcorn sales, donut sales, silent auctions, the list goes on and on. What has been your most effective fund raiser in your Unit.
Also what legal issues have you run into?
Oh yea, and pie in the face.  That one is always a "hit."

We made some good money at a carwash by the commissary at the first of the month (when retirees get thier check). We pulled in close to 500 bucks in about 2.5 hours. Being in close proximity to San Diego there are plenty of opportunities for units to make money in the way of providing security gaurds or persons to work concession stands at ball games.

We did a few car washes and the pie in the face as well, always participated when I could and a few hotdog sales in the motorpool for the FRG too.

SSG Burns, we normally do the pie in the face, but we auction the pies off, after the first person places a bid, he or she must nominate someone to get hit with the pie. The person nominated then has the chance to outbid and buy the pie to get the person who orginally made the bid. It brings in big funds and the hurt feelings reports goes out the window. I have seen some people pay close to a hundred dollars just to not get hit with the pie.
