So I've been in 6 years, transitioned from the national guard to active duty back in 2012. So my active service is at 3 years. I want to know what reclassing is like. I'm married with a child also. Will I attend AIT and my family wait at my curren duty station? Are there any Apache Mechanics out there that can weigh in on the MOS as far as day to day duties and promotion aspects. Thank you!

I know someone that just did the exact same thing. Your family could wait depending on your pcs orders...

I assume you'd do this with re-enlistment? If so you should get a school date and report date soon there after. Once ait is done then you could come back and clear. You might be able to get a school date that would let you do school enroute to your new station.

Really depends on how you setup the dates.

I can't speak of the MOS course itself, but yes you would have to attend the AIT with the other IET's. Unless it is put on yer orders for your family to accompany you to your AIT, they will have to wait at your current station until you are done with training and PCS to your next assignment. Talk with your base Retention office to get these questions answered better, though.
