Mr. Charles Papas Jr. has passed away at age 91. Mr. Pappas joined the US Marines in November of 1942. He served with the 105th Field Artillery. He witnessed the raising of the American flag on Suribachi at Iwo Jima. He also was in Nagasaki three weeks after the bomb was dropped. Mr. Pappas was discharged in 1946. East Texas Patriot Guard Riders will be honored to pay respects and escort Mr. Pappas to his final resting place in Tyler Texas tomorrow. Semper Fi, Marine!

There are very few witnesses to WW II and the Shoah (Holocaust) left now. It will depend on our generation, and history and video to teach it to the future generations...

As a student, I once visited Stutthoff concentration camp in Poland. It left an indelible mark on my soul. It brought to life the reasons for the war and the depths of depravity we had to fight. That kind of evil must never again be allowed to grow and spread.
