Moving to Active Duty Army from Army Reserves and not very familiar with base housing rules. Great Danes are not listed on the restricted list of breeds but wanted to see if anyone can contest to seeing large breeds as in Great Danes in Army base housing?

There is no Army-wide prohibition* on having a Great Dane in on-post housing.
It's going to depend on the specific pet policies at the installation (for example, Fort Meade's pet policy*)

I have not seen a housing pet policy that lists Great Danes
But as mentioned that will be a garrison commander decision.
In example, Fort Hoo.......err Catahos..no,, ahh Cateroooo,, no wait, Cavazos
The pet policy lists American Pit Bull Terrier, Chow Chow, Presa Canario, Cane Corso, Mastiff, Wolf, Wolf Hybrid, Staffordshire Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, and Doberman Pinscher
Contact the garrison HQ and base housing office and ask for their pet policy in writing. Also ask if they have a revision in the works not yet approved.
If you are coming to Fort Cavazos and your pet is not microchipped, hit me up, I'll do it for free including lifetime registration. Just because you are a pet owner doing the right thing and researching before, not reacting when you show up. Thank you

Wow, sure don't want Pit Bulls, they have more name variations than I've ever heard. I would be curious about Mastiffs being on the list, they tend to be big 140 lb puppies with at least a minimal amount of socialization. I've always found their personality to be very much like a Dane.
I have always liked Danes, but their short lifespan keeps me away. I was looking at one the day my current dog, a Glennie, adopted me.

In 1981 I had housing at Yuma Proving Grounds, AZ and had my Great Dane. Went to Germany with no problems until she was stolen from us by a member of the German equivalent of the AKC. Never got her back and I believe they wanted her for breeding because she was bigger than any male dog and was purebred AKC registered. German court declared her value at 20,000 Deutsch Marks.
