What are the rules and regulations on only having soldiers pull weekend duty? (Staff Duty, CQ, etc.)

^^My original question was edited I guess. I am the S3 Schools NCO and I have no major events to attend, the roster for EOC is made by the S3 NCOIC, CQ by company training room NCO. Rosters usually come out a few days prior to the 1st... There are 23 NCO's available for CQ Roster, 97 available for Staff Duty. Whenever I come down on the Roster it is always a weekend, usually 3 times a month. This has been almost a monthly occurrence since I arrived to the Unit July16.

I would ask to see the DA-6. If your unit is just randomly (or intentionally) assigning people to duty, that's definitely not within regs. Respectfully ask to see the DA-6 and if you are refused, use the Open Door Policy. If that doesn't work, consult the Inspector General (IG).

How are you placed on duty. How are you informed about that duty. Who else is available for duty. How long has this been going on for and has there been any major events with you or the unit. I have a lot of questions before I can give you a good answer.

Gee Wes who did you piss off?
How many people are qualified and in the watch rotation? There was a time, when I was a CWO4 with 28+ years and had to stand a one in three rotation because there were only two others besides myself who was qualified to stand the watch.
If there are more then an adequate number of qualified watch standers and you're consistently being stuck with a Friday or Sunday duty day but are only standing duty three days a month count your blessings...If you're standing more then those three days a month and others aren't "sharing the wealth" with you I'd run it up your chain of command and ask why...
Like I said - one in three meant 10 duty days a month...

Be careful what you wish for it might come. As a CACO my duty 24/7/365. It was a telephone watch and I was called thirty times but why at 0230. Check it out without making waves.
