How are your sleep patterns? Is it easy for you to fall asleep? Hard for you to fall asleep? Is it easy for you to get a good night's sleep? Or do you find it difficult to sleep hours at a time? Have you have a sleep study? Do you use a CPAP to help you sleep? WHAT TIPS CAN YOU SHARE that work for you to help others sleep?

I have obstructive sleep apnea and receive 50% disability from the VA as a result. Yes I have had a sleep study.
I have a CPAP machine but I don't use it. I did recently switch to a Sleep Number bed that inclines so I can sleep with my head elevated. My wife says I snore less now.
It's hard for me to fall asleep, easy to wake up. I think my wife is sometimes evil and plays on that. We'll be in bed talking, then decide "okay, time to go to sleep." She'll wait about 10 minutes or so, until I'm just about to fall asleep, then start talking to me again. Something like "John, are you still awake?"

CH (MAJ) William Beaver, I'm not medically retired. I'm a "regular" retiree with 20 years and 8 days of service.
I actually didn't know I had sleep apnea until a guy from the DAV was reviewing my medical record at RTAP (Retirement Transition Assistance Program) and said "I see you've had obstructive sleep apnea since you were 19. Do you use a CPAP machine?"
I did have a sleep study when I was 19 because of a sleeping issue (sleeping paralysis) I had once. I had the sleep study (and 6 months light duty). At my medical board at the end of the 6 months the Navy Captain asked me if I wanted to stay in the Navy, never disclosing to me that I in fact had sleep apnea.
Fast forward 19 years and my talk with the DAV rep. I had my ship's doc schedule me a sleep study before I retired so that I would have a more recent sleep study in my record to back up my VA disability claim.

I was a 11B and I didn't have a problem falling asleep, there was no such a thing as Sleep Apnea when I was in, you could be on CQ & walk though the barracks it would sound like a train yard so many people were snoring. It was about 2010 that I knew about it and that was because my wife would complain about my snoring, after getting my machine issued from the VA & getting it dialed in come to find out my wife had apnea too.
