The CH-46 program will come to a close on 1 August. So I was wondering, does anyone in the community have a good PHROG story to tell?

I have flown on this airframe for well over 20 years, but my most memorable flights was one of my earliest. I was able to scam my way into Helocasting with STA Platoon. We took off from MCAS Kaneohe and stepped out off of Bellows Beach. It was a great experience, even with the 1,000 yard swim in.

I hate seeing when a workhorse aircraft is retired. I never flew on one, but when I was in the Navy we had one on the flight deck of our ship. We were watching in the sonar shack, and thinking "there is no way that monster is going to fit on our deck." They are beautiful aircraft.

What's awesome is that they still use them as contract birds over here.
