Absolutely TSgt David. When I was promoted I was totally elated at being chosen to lead the squad. But, when I was handed a 45 Colt 1911, I fell in love.

That would be true if M1911s had been upgraded. They were on their last legs when replaced by the M9s. By that time they were a mish mash of parts on worn out frames.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - It is still true... doesn't change the fact they saw action from the First World War to the Gulf War... had they been updated and proper production continued we might still have this beast in our holster... I shot both the Colt and the Ithaca model... Then I had the Beretta, I wanted my 1911 back.

I was at Fort Hood during the late 70s and the .45s in our Arms Room were so worn out they would rattle if you shook them. Worn slides or frames or both. They still worked and I wish I had the money to buy one of pistols the DCM is just now releasing.

You can’t beat the Glock as a great all around weapon that works well for the majority of folks. Super reliable, easy to shoot, and very accurate.
Since it was my duty weapon for most of my career, I have put 1000’s of rounds through various 40 Cal models with very few failures. I still own one and carry it when the situation dictates. But my daily driver is still my Colt Combat Commander in .45 ACP.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I don’t blame you Capt. Glocks are like Fords. They get the job done. However, Why drive a Ford when you have a Mercedes in the garage?
