Agree - there is WAY too much EGO involved in talking heads who love to be in the limelight again.

LTC Eugene Chu, regarding your post, I must disagree with you unless they've infiltrated the Democrat party, currently service Defense Department officials, the Intelligence agency, etc. as well.

A very quick look shows statements Obama's Ambassador to Russia expressing dismay about Ukraine's ability to hold on, a number of progressive Democrats in the House that expressed that the war would devastate the country and leave it a broken shell of what it was, and a number of 'left' politicians and political groups that have laid the reason for the war in Ukraine at the feet of "NATO's post-Cold War expansion" instead of Russia's territorial ambitions ... Russia must have got to them.

I can cherry-pick officials on the left making comments just as easily as I can cherry-pick officials on the right making comments to 'prove' that one side or the other is "infiltrated by the Russians". I think a more logical reason is that people keep grossly underestimating the will of the Ukrainian population and that there are other reasons (which can be attacked/defended) such as as an isolationist mentality, viewing their cause (whatever it is) as more important, etc.

If you expect rational people to believe the "Russian has infiltrated Republican politics", then I assume those same people should believe the "China has infiltrated Democratic politics" as well. If instead the comment was just made for the benefit of the echo-chamber, then carry on!

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Not sure what I wasn't providing. I gave the name of the Obama ambassador (Michael McFaul) and specifically pointed out the Progressive Caucus. A very quick internet search turned up the comments and situation.

I never said "sympathetic to Russian" - those are your words, and my comment of "Russia must have got to them" was pure hyperbole to match the hyperbole of "Russian infiltration of Republican politics".

To close this out, the expansion piece is pretty clear. All you have to do is a search on "ukraine war due to nato expansion" and you'll come up with many entries by left media sources.

NPR - https://www.npr.org/2022/01/29/ [login to see] /ukraine-russia-nato-explainer
Guardian - https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/feb/28/nato-expansion-war-russia-ukraine
Vox - https://www.vox.com/22900113/nato-ukraine-russia-crisis-clinton-expansion

The Democratic Socialists of America immediate released a statement after Russia invaded Ukraine which, as the New York Times said, "The Democratic Socialists of America’s view that U.S. “imperialist expansionism” through NATO fueled Russia’s invasion has created challenges for politicians aligned with the group." If a partisan wants that as ammunition/'proof' that the Democrats blame NATO for the war and not Russia, there are 5 current federal politicians and 50 state-level politicians that belong to the DSA. Damning indeeed!
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/08/nyregion/dsa-nato-ukraine-russia.html

However, you're missing the point or deliberately avoiding it. I'm sure you can expend time and comb through some reference or another and explain away why someone said this or that group said that, but it doesn't matter. I'm sure you could recite the partisan talking points on the left as well as your opposite number could recite the partisan talking points from the right. Neither are really ground in much reality.

The instances are cherry-picked. I could, but am not going to, keep going and cherry-picking other instances where some Democrat said this some left-wing media source said that. By a partisan view, if I can dig up one instance of someone doing that or better yet, a couple, then I can condemn an entire group.

I believe that Russia has infiltrated either of our main political parties as being on par with the chance of Biden and Trump doing a joint ticket for 2024.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Moving the goalpost again. That has nothing to do with my original statement about cherry-picking 'facts'. I'm not going to be drug into a partisan debate on the left or the right on some tangent because something doesn't agree with "THE TRUTH!" because partisans always discount what doesn't agree with their view of the world.

Maybe because they are fans of Steven Seagal? LOL just kidding!

But some officers like this former Four Star General Jack Keane thought that President Biden didn't want Putin to lose. He took too much time to get approval for tanks and it's going to take another 6 months to train them up. They could have been trained up by now. The irony is that sending tanks to Ukraine takes away from tanks that are supposed to be going to Taiwan. Taiwan paid for them already and it's going to take them 4 years to get 105 Main battle tanks. We only have one tank factory. Just think if we could have taken that 360 billion from the fake inflation reduction act and put it toward building a second tank factory, restocking our ammunition and keeping those 24 ships being moved into the reserve Fleet instead of being fixed. This Administration is so weak no wonder President Putin was tempted to invade and now you have the Chinese president planning his invasion of Taiwan because we have a president that is a across between Mr. Magoo and Mr. Rogers.

Former General Keane may be biased against Biden due to his coziness with former President Trump.

LTC Eugene Chu I disagree because President Biden left himself open with Afghanistan. I would think that many generals agree with President Trump because he scared the Europeans to actually put 2% of GDP toward their Mutual defense and now they are finally doing so yet they depleted their limited inventory by giving everything to Ukraine so if they would have listened to president Trump in the beginning, those half percentage point to 1% point a year that they didn't put toward their GDP probably would have amounted to close to a trillion dollars in defense that they didn't put in.

You are an apologist toward president biden. The Biden Administration ruins everything it touches. Look at this last budget not including this messed up budget, he increases the military by 10% but he has a 13% inflation rate and fuel prices continue to be high so the military is hampered by inflation and the fuel budget is shot to hell because of his stupid policies. I don't call them woke policies, I call them stupid policies. Here is bringing oil in from Venezuela yet the Church of the green New Deal Fanatics don't care that the oil that comes from Venezuela is from an oil destroyed environment. I am extremely angry at President Biden because he is a freaking idiot and I'm glad these hearings are going forward to get him out of office.
Let's not forget that General s i n g l a u b was the deputy commander of US forces in Korea in 1978 and he lost his command because he questioned President Carter's desire to pull all US forces out of Korea. Having moral courage is the right thing to do and general Jack Keane has the moral courage to tell get the way it is. He is right, the sanctions didn't happen until after the invasion, and their training up a tank Crews wasn't discussed until late last year when he could have had those tank Crews trained by New Year's had he had a sense of urgency but like others were saying, every time Putin barks, President Biden goes under the desk.

I doubt Germany has improved because it still doesn't have two percentage GDP toward defense until maybe this year but it's 15 years too late. I compared 2017 and 2021 NATO expenditures.

LTC Eugene Chu even though General Singlaub was implicated in the Iran-Contra scandal, he was a valiant officer and made it to two star general and he was my hero in confronting President Carter over his desire to pull US forces out of Korea.

I don't see why you're putting down General Jack Kean when he became the head of the 101st Airborne and the head of the 18th Airborne Corps. He was a Vietnam veteran. There are a lot of conservative Republicans who backed president trump. Even those who didn't like him.

Just because you like Trump doesn't mean you're wrong!

But with Democrats today, every time you criticize them they double down even if the information is verifiable.

Democrats were scaring us saying that President Trump would get us into a nuclear war when I really think that President Biden being an idiot as he is is going to get us into a nuclear war and all the trillions that we are being forced to spend for climate change will be in vain when we will have 20 or more years of cooler weather, famine and years without a summer all because of the vanity of the Church of the green New Deal taking over our US government before a nuclear war.

I used to think that president Carter or President Ford was the worst president in the last 75 years, I can surely say that it's President Biden hands down. I personally liked Jimmy Carter and I personally don't hate President Biden and I think he will get his Justice eventually. Here is a book for reading which I would consider an excellent look at how a two-star general challenged the president of the United States. He saw the fall of nationalist China working for the oss, he worked his way up the ranks in the US forces Korea and he was not going to sacrifice all his work for nothing and that's why he knew he would be cashiered for being against President Carter.

I have had this book for over a decade and I've read it and I'll need to read it again. Really interesting World War II exploits in this book.

Video argues that it is over ego, but I believe it is due to Russian infiltration of Republican politics. We should remember about General Michael Flynn specifically lying about contact with the Russian ambassador to US. During annual training with the Army Reserve, another officer and I got into argument since he was pro-Trump/anti-Ukraine while I was pro-Ukraine.
