I was a 2LT and saw a Vietnamese-American going to the local OCS board. I noticed he had an immense accent and repeatedly stuttered. He later told me he did not get approved for OCS. If we can't understand you verbally, telephonically, or by radios, you are irrelevant.

CPT Joseph K Murdock sadly I knew a NCO who failed a board becaus of his language, but then he got better and passed. I guess nerves may block your English.

I had it worse. I had a Chief that talked like Elmer Fudd in boot camp. He was get pissed of and every word that started with a "R" became a "W". I got smoked all the time because I could not stop laughing at him.

I think I had that NCOS cousin or some shit during AIT at Camp Lejeune? I couldn't understand a freaking word he was saying so I answered him back in French. You should of seen the look on his face. He just looked at me with the trout look and never said another word.
